Division of Ecosystem Research with Centre LTER - Bulgaria
Research priorities
- Selection of indicators for assessment of ecosystem status and degradation processes;
- Monitoring of different types of ecosystems, modelling of ecosystem processes and and developing sustainable management plans;
- Key functional processes and components for the ecosystems – effect of biodiversity, air pollution (ozone, sulphuric and nitric oxides) on ecosystems in natural and impacted environments; mechanisms for transformation of pollutants introduced by rainfall in water catchments with different vegetation cover;
- Mid- and long-term ecological processes in the ecosystems; changes in functional regime and energetic status of ecosystems.
