Flora and Florogenesis Research Group

The main scientific and applied studies of the research group are focused on:

  • Composition, structure and formation of the flora;
  • Taxonomy and evolution of vascular plants and mosses by application of anatomical, morphological, embryological, karyological, molecular, ecological, etc. methods;
  • Distribution and ecology of the plants;
  • Mapping, monitoring, assessing the status and conservation of rare, protected and endangered plant species, habitats and protected areas;
  • Elaboration of Action plans for endangered plant species and Management plans for protected territories;
  • Restoration of populations of endangered plant species;
  • Inventory and distribution of alien and invasive species, risk assessment and mitigation of their impact on local species and ecosystems;
  • Development and maintenance of databases on plant biodiversity;
  • Training, etc.

The team of the research group conducts its studies in field and in the following laboratories:

  • Cytotaxonomic;
  • Molecular;
  • Embryological;
  • Vegetation house.
